2imple pleasures: walks

Sometimes taking walks seem like a lot of work, or something close to a workout. At times, it seems especially challenging and time-consuming. Despite this, being in the outdoors have really paved way for more productive and active mornings. My dog loves the walks as much as I do, and after consistently showing up and doing that 30 minute walk, I saw differences in my own health and attitude.

As a night owl, I tend to stay up late and wake up late, but by forcing myself out of bed earlier in the morning and taking a quick walk, I was more active and ready. My dog's favorite word is now "walk".

I no longer go on morning walks now that it is fall, but am enjoying my evening ones. It is quite simple to just go on a walk, but taking a step back from screens and devices, and fully consuming the nature around me is something I have taken great joy in. The relaxing nature of birds humming, the sky setting, and pink clouds floating, made walks extraordinary.

Some health benefits that the CDC also addresses are the advantages of strengthening the physical body and building muscle (while also losing weight). Because walking is a moderate form of exercise, it is inclusive to most people. It is a cheap and alternative that does not need a gym membership.

According to walkingforhealth.org.uk walking is a great way to improve self-perception, self-esteem, mood and sleep quality.

Simply find a park, a neighborhood, or a trail, and take a stroll! :)
